Dallas Observer Music Awards Showcase
30th Annual Dallas Observer Music Awards Showcase
1 Night, over 50 local bands on 8 stages in Deep Ellum

On Saturday, December 1st sample the sounds of over 50 local bands in Deep Ellum, TX. Shows will be spread across several different venues including 253 Deep Ellum, Club Dada Indoor & Outdoor Stage, Off the Record, Prophet Bar, Reno’s Chop Shop, Three Links and Trees!

To determine the lineup of local acts, Dallas Observer poll movers and shakers in the music industry, everyone from promoters to fans to musicians themselves to nominate the best of the best for this year’s ballot. Those nominations were whittled down to more than 200 finalists divided into 38 categories on our 2018 Dallas Observer Music Awards Ballot. Close to half of those acts will perform at the 30th Annual Dallas Observer Music Awards Showcase!

The 30th Annual Dallas Observer Music Awards celebrate the local talent who make up the thriving, dynamic music community of Dallas. A general admission ticket gets you access to all participating venues; VIP tickets include all of the above, plus 3 drink tickets at VIP Private Bar upstairs at Trees (private cash bar available after tickets are used), Catered food, Dallas Observer Music Awards T-Shirt, Parking Pass (with purchase of four VIP Passes — redemption details will be emailed after purchase), and access to VIP Restrooms.

Chilldren of Indigo
Chilldren of Indigo
Children of Indigo is a Dallas based band formed in Fall 2014. The music blends styles of rock, hip hop, soul, funk and blues to bring an original, yet reminiscent sound. The energy they bring to their live performances have been compared to The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, and the Rolling Stones. There's so much more that could be said, but the music speaks for it's self.
Kirk Thurmond & The Millennials
With disarming lyrics that speak to the realities of love both found and lost, and songs that tell stories of a life that isn't always perfect (but sometimes comes close) Kirk Thurmond's smooth and soulful voice draws the listener into a world where problems can be honestly and earnestly expressed, and where you feel that it's ok to not always be completely content. With songs such as "Like My Love," "Leave that Girl Alone," and "Superlover," Kirk's music can simply be described as honest. Seeking to convey an emotional rawness in his music that can all too often be lost as artists try to pursue the next crowd-pleasing hit, Kirk aims for one thing- genuinity (a word he made up). "I want people to know that when they listen to my songs, they're hearing what I really feel - no holds barred," says Kirk. "I try not to pull any punches in my writing, even if it makes me seem broken, because all too often that's what we are- fragile and in pieces. If we were more honest with each other about how we don't have it all together, I really believe things could change for all of us." Kirk aims to let his friends and his fans know that the experiences they encounter are not theirs alone, that there is someone who understands the struggles and the pains of the everyday. He is more than willing to share his experiences with the world.
